  All You Need
To Know About
CORONAVIRUS & TRAVEL

At SpiceJet, we're taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of our passengers. At the same time, we'd like to assure everyone that it is absolutely safe to continue international travel, tourism and trade; and advise everyone to take necessary precautions to avoid the
risk of infection.

Is it safe to travel during the
ongoing Coronavirus outbreak?

Yes. According to the WHO, there is no evidence to suggest that restricting travel & tourism is effective in controlling the spread of Coronavirus. The risk of infection is low in most countries. To add to that, India is one of the least-affected countries, with less than 100 confirmed Coronavirus cases & ZERO deaths in a population of over 135 crores, a measly infection rate of 0.00000003%.

  Are airplane cabins
safe to travel in?

The novel Coronavirus is transmitted by coming in
contact with droplets, and only lives on surfaces for
short periods of time, up to approximately 30
minutes. The virus is not airborne. SpiceJet has
procedures in place to prevent the spread of illness
in case anyone on board is infected.

Additionally, you're advised to wash your hands
with soap & water regularly and use an
alcohol-based sanitizer.

Is it less infectious than the flu?

Yes. Annually, there are an estimated 1 billion cases of the flu worldwide, resulting in about 6,50,000 deaths, while there are only approx.1,12,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide till date. You are way more likely to contract the flu than coronavirus.
